Vanilla And Almond Baked French Toast

If you like Almonds then this Breakfast Dish is for you. I also love this because I can Substitute the Almonds with other Nuts. T he recipe is easily doubled and I will give you both Regular and Doubled  Ingredients. We have this dish a lot because it is very simple to make and it is also very flavorful. I cook this in a small Iron skillet but you can use what you have on hand.

 

1 Tbsp. Butter, Melted                                                       

3 Eggs

1/4 c. Milk

1 Tbsp. Sugar

Salt and Pepper ( to taste)

1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract

1/8 Tsp. Almond Extract

2 Tbsp. Almonds, Chopped small or Sliced

4 Slices of bread

 

(1.) Preheat the oven to 350*. Melt butter in a Small 6 inch Cast Iron pan ( or a small baking dish) and set aside to cool. Brush butter along the edges to prevent sticking.

(2.) In a bowl Beat together the Eggs, Milk, Sugar, Salt, Pepper, Vanilla Extract and the Almond Extract until well combined. Set aside.

(3.) Lay the bread flat into the pan. You can cut bread slices in half to fit the pan if needed. Pour over the custard evenly and sprinkle on the Chopped Almonds evenly. Let set 2-3 minutes so the bread can absorb the custard. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until top is lightly golden and cooked through. Remove from the oven and let set a minute or to so it holds its shape. when plated top with your favorite syrup.

This is the double ingredients.

6 Eggs

1/2 c. Milk

2 Tbsp. Sugar

Salt and Pepper

1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract

1/4 Tsp. Almond Extract

8 slices of bread

2 Tbsp. Butter

4 Tbsp. Chopped or Sliced Almonds

 Follow the Directions above.
